This body of work was inspired by my parents’ photography from their many trips to South Africa on photo safari. I grew up seeing the images they would bring back with them and always felt connected to the magical beasts from faraway lands. I adore this lady. There is something so sad and sweet about her eyes and the bird just looks like an accessory to me. A fun fact;  Hildegard is a Cape Buffalo and I just confirmed that indeed both the males and females have horns. Wow, that would’ve been embarrassing.
